Gail Brovont

Gail Brovont, age 88, of Hudsonville, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, August 2, 2026. 

Gail grew up on a farm in Lake Odessa, Michigan, where he milked cows, gathered eggs and worked in the fields. He learned what hard work was from an early age.

He went to school in a one room schoolhouse through middle school. In high school he met the love of his life, Linda Lou Firestone, and married her shortly after graduating. They were married for 68 years.

Gail worked as a plumber and then transitioned to a Mechanical Engineer. He drew plumbing and fire protection for many buildings in Grand Rapids, including the Amway Grand Plaza and the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum.

The things that were the most important to Gail were his relationship with Jesus Christ and his family. He was a wonderful husband and amazing father to his two children. He also had an impact on the lives of the children he and Linda fostered.

Gail served as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher at Baldwin Heights Baptist Church in Jenison. His desire was that everyone would experience the love and forgiveness that Jesus offers.

When Gail was not busy with his family or church you could find him fishing, hunting, traveling, watching NASCAR, or tinkering in his workshop.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Ketha Brovont; and sister, Leah Beck. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 68 years, Linda Brovont; children, Cyndi and Greg Heath, Jeff Brovont; grandchildren, Kristen and Andrew Rogers, Lindsay Porter, Erika and Bobbie Kremnitzer, Megan and Phil Wilds, Jenelle and Dave Teunissen, Jacob Brovont; 13 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Gary and Lee Firestone; and several loving nieces and nephews. 

An open house to celebrate Gail’s life will be held on Saturday, August 8, from 2-4 p.m. at the MKD Reception and Event Center, 4145 Chicago Dr. SW, Grandville. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to ABWE (Association of Baptists for World Evangelism).
