Frederick Oppewal

Frederick “Fred” Oppewal, age 84, of Allendale, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, March 30, 2019. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Catherine “Katie” Oppewal; brothers, Peter, Raymond, Donald, Jacob; and sister, Dorothy. Fred will be lovingly remembered by his children, Kathy and Jerry Antuma, Rick Oppewal; grandchildren, Chad Antuma, Caitlin and Louie Kunst, Kyle Antuma, Taeke Oppewal, Chantel Oppewal, Dillon Parsons, and Dakota Parsons; great-grandchildren, Alexander Oppewal, Isibella Oppewal, Harley Parsons, and Oakleigh Parsons; sister, Trudy Kuiper; brother-in-law, Richard Doonbos; and many nieces and nephews.  Fred proudly served in the U.S. Army. The family wishes to thank the Allendale Nursing Home staff for their love and compassion shown to Fred. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2019, at 11 a.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 6651 Scott St., Allendale, with Pastor Dennis Gilbert officiating. Interment will be held at Floral View Memorial Gardens. Relatives and friends may meet the family on Saturday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association.
