Frederick Hoekzema

Frederick Hoekzema, age 89, of Grandville, went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 9, 2018.  Fred was a painter, decorator and an avid collector of antique tools.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna (Boogaard) Hoekzema; brother, Harm Hoekzema; sisters, Evelyn Boersma, Ann Van Houten, and Jo Brouwer.  He is survived by his children, Dr. Fred Jr. and Joyce Hoekzema, Richard and Grace Hoekzema, Randall and Amy Hoekzema; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; sisters, Mettena and Duwayne Dykehouse, Alberdena DeRuiter, Patricia DeVrou, Ruth Hoekzema; sister-in-law, Angeline Hoekzema; brother-in-law, Duane and Barb Boogaard; and many nieces and nephews.  Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 13, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW., with Rev. Casey Freswick officiating.  Interment will be held at Grandville Cemetery.  Relatives and friends may meet the family Thursday from 5-8 p.m. and Friday from 10-10:45 a.m. at the funeral home. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Byron Center Manor or Faith Hospice.
