Freda June Barney

​Freda Barney, age 80, of Grandville, passed away on Tuesday, July 25, 2023. Freda worked for many years putting together engine parts as a factory worker. She also enjoyed being a den mother while her kids were participating in Cub Scouts. Above all she was a loving mother and grandmother. She loved her family and worked hard to raise and care for them. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Robert Evans, Janice Evans-Hayes, Pearl Evans-Benson. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Cynthia Whitney, Robert Whitney, David Whitney Sr., Ricky Whitney, Tony Whitney, Kenneth Barney; 14 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; siblings, Marian Herman, Dale Evans, Paul Evans; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW. The burial will take place at Cleon Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family an hour prior to the service at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW.
