
Frank Ching-Hwa Sun of St. Charles, MO passed away on January 31, 2023 at the age of 69. Frank was born in Taipei, Taiwan on November 9, 1953, son of late Paul G. Sun and Wen Fong Sun. He was preceded in death by his older sister, Lucia DeMeester, and his older brother, Michael Sun. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 37 years, Sunny Lee Sun; parents-in-law, Paul and Kim Lee; sister, Michelle Sun and Robert Chiang; brothers-in-law, John DeMeester, Christian and Haejin Lee, Robert and Yen Lee; sisters-in-law, Shirleen Sun, Jeanette and Jim VandenAkker, Rosaleen Park; nieces and nephews, James and Suzy DeMeester, Anna Sun and Christopher Chan, Stephanie Sun Lee and David Lee, Jennifer Chiang, James Chiang and Bingbing Xue, Alec VandenAkker, Kristine Park and Christopher Wang, Rachael Park, Harrison and Kaitlyn Lee, Joseph and Molly Lee, Michael Lee, Nicholas Lee; grandnieces and nephews, Kal DeMeester; Lucy DeMeester, Calliope Chan, Aurora Chan, Kassen Chiang-Byas, Marilyn Chiang-Byas, Miles Chiang, Milo Wang. Frank graduated with a BS in Chemical Engineering from Taipei Institute of Technology in 1973; BS in Paper Engineering from Western Michigan University in 1979; and MS in Computer Science from Western Michigan University in 1983. He worked for Boeing for 33 years as a software engineer, where he was involved in many leadership roles and recognized through many awards. He was involved in many volunteer works, doing the works no one wants to do at low-income family programs, senior citizens center, Korean church, and the Chinese community. Frank endeared himself to everyone he met and strived to have a lasting positive impact wherever he went. He earned his place as “adopted “son rather than son-in-law in Sunny’s family. Funeral services will be held at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Chapel, 4646 Kalamazoo Ave. SE on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at 4 pm with Reverend Moon Bae Kim officiating. Relatives and friends may meet the family from 3-4 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
