Frank John Yonlisky, age 75, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 12, 2025.
Born in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, Frank spent the last 41 years in Michigan, where he built a life full of family, fast engines, and unforgettable stories. A true gearhead, Frank had a lifelong passion for anything with horsepower. He spent countless summers at Martin Dragway, Stanton, and the U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis—building engines, showing off his classic cars, and cheering on the action. He also loved the freedom of the open road, especially on his Harley-Davidson.
Frank retired from Northwest Airlines after 35 years of dedicated service—a career that took him across the country, including time spent living in Alaska, New Jersey, Montana, Illinois, and finally, Michigan. Whether turning a wrench, swapping stories, or enjoying quiet time with family, Frank brought strength, humor, and heart to everything he did.
In addition to his love of cars and motorcycles, Frank was a fiercely devoted grandpa to his grandchildren. He adored Brooke, Jonas, Emma, Connor, and Cameron, and took great joy in being part of their lives. His pride in them was immeasurable, and the time they shared meant everything to him.
Frank was also an avid sports fan who never missed a chance to cheer on his favorite teams—especially the Pittsburgh Steelers. Even after decades away from Pennsylvania, his loyalty to the black and gold never faded.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Daphne Yonlisky; his children, Victoria (Yonlisky) Hansen, Nichole (Yonlisky) Bundschuh and husband Paul, and Frank Yonlisky and wife Jeanie; and his beloved grandchildren, Brooke, Jonas, Emma, Connor, and Cameron. He is also survived by his half-sister, Vera Jones and her husband Ken; nieces and nephews Tara (Yonlisky) Couper and husband Curt, Jimmy Yonlisky, Sarah (Bickel) Storaasli and husband Mikkel, and Beth (Bickel) Eckert and husband Tony, Suzie Bickel.
Frank was preceded in death by his mother, Myfanwy (Jones) Yonlisky; his father, Frank John Yonlisky; and his brother, Jimmy Yonlisky.
Funeral services will be held 11 am Wednesday, July 16, 2025 at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4646 Kalamazoo Ave. SE, Kentwood. Relatives and friends may meet the family at the funeral home Tuesday, July 15, 2025 from 5-8 pm.
His engine may have gone quiet, but his spirit will forever ride on.
