Francis C. Waters, Sr.

Francis C. Waters Sr., aged 88 of Wyoming, passed away on Thursday, August 17, 2017. He was the son of Clayton L. and Ellen (Porteus) Waters, born in College Point, Queens, New York, coming to Shelby, Michigan, with his family as a boy. Francis served two years in the US Army before settling in Grand Rapids. He retired from McInerney Spring and Wire after 38 years; then retired in January 2017 from Bun Basket/ConAgra after 25 years. Francis was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly, and his son, Francis Jr. He is survived by his daughters, Veronica Aungst, Kathleen (William) DeRuiter; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and his sister, Veronica Taylor. A Memorial Mass for Francis will be held on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Vianney Church, 4101 Clyde Park Ave. SW, Wyoming with Fr. Michael Alber presiding. Relatives and friends may meet the family at the church on Friday one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association.
