Frances Velthouse

Frances Velthouse, age 94, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, December 13, 2017, following a brief illness. Frances was born in Grand Rapids, MI on March 9, 1923, the daughter of Cornelius and Margaret Wierda. She married Peter J. Velthouse on December 12, 1946 and he preceded her in death on June 15, 1998. She will be especially missed by her children, Douglas (Jane) Velthouse of Ravenna and Patricia (Thomas) Graham of Caledonia. She had a special relationship with her granddaughters, Stacey (Josh) Graham of Hastings; Megan Graham (Jay Haisma) of Caledonia and brother-in-law, Donald Velthouse. Fran was expecting her first great-grandchild in March. She also leaves behind her grand dogs, Nino and Libby. Fran enjoyed golf and was an amazing cook and baker. She was faithfully devoted to her grandchildren; supporting their schooling, going on trips and excursions, and attending their sporting events and recitals. To honor Fran’s memory, make this earth a better place during your brief stay here, smile, laugh, call a forgotten friend, give freely of your time and resources, forgive a grudge, share a hug and tell someone how much you love them. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 17 from 2 - 4 pm at the Matthysse, Kuiper, DeGraaf (Kentwood Chapel), 4646 Kalamazoo Ave. SE. Funeral services will be Monday, December 18 at 1 pm, with her neighbor, Pastor Terry Frazine presiding. Interment at Pine Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Faith Hospice of Grand Rapids.
