Florence June Steger

Florence June Steger, age 96, formerly of Caledonia, ascended peacefully to heaven on Monday, December 17, 2018. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; son, David Steger; brother, Gerald Wentzloff; daughter in law, Diana Steger; son in law, Bob Vorenkamp; daughter in law Diane Steger. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Jim Steger, Sue and Jerry Gray, Jane Steger Vorenkamp, Richard Steger, Teri Steger; daughter-in-law, Laurie Tolan Steger; 8 grandchildren, and many other extended family members. Florence was very active in her church; singing with the choir, and as a soloist. She also proudly served her country during WWII in the Naval Reserves. Pre WWII and prior to her military service, she sang live for Wood Radio. During her military service, she sang for 5000 troops in New York City. Florence loved being a nurse, mother, and homemaker. A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2019, from 1-3 pm at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 616 E. Main St., Caledonia. A private family graveside service will be held in the spring at Lakeside Cemetery in Caledonia. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Paws for a Cause.
