Elsa Scholten

Elsa Mae Scholten, age 95, of Jenison, went into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Saturday, October 28, 2023. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Nancy (Rick) Tigchon, Carol (Ron) Tjepkema, Joan (Dwight) Lutke, Jan (Karl) Kuzee; daughter-in-law, Darlene Scholten; 16 grandchildren and their spouses; 46 great-grandchildren; sister, Lois (Jim) Scholma; sister-in-law, Martha Riemersma; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Jay Scholten; son, Ken Scholten; and brother, Don Riemersma. She was a charter member of 12th Avenue Christian Reformed Church and volunteered for many years at the Legacy Thrift Store. She also loved to travel with her husband and spend winters in Texas and Arizona. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW with Rev. Rick Tigchon officiating. The burial will take place at Georgetown Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Friday, November 3, from 5-7 p.m. and Saturday from 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home.
