Elsa Dykema

Elsa Lynn (Zwiep) Dykema, age 77, of Wyoming, went to her heavenly home on Friday, October 9, 2020. Born on December 3, 1942 in Alphen aan den rijn, The Netherlands, she immigrated to America at the age of seven. She had a love for her church, Bethany United Reformed, and was church secretary for 45 years.  Elsa will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 55 years, Jerry; children (and grandchildren): Steve and Carrie Dykema (Denisha and Anthony Patterson, Emily and Damien Andrews, Nicole), Dale and Julie Van Voorst (Amy and Derek Lourens, Ryan, Eric), Tom Dykema (Isaiah, Josiah), Dave and Jill Dykema (Samantha, Brandon, Jessica); great-grandchildren: Milyiah, Anthony Jr., Desani, and August Patterson, Paisley Andrews, Owen, Ellie, and Avery Lourens; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Rose Zwiep, Don and Barb Dykema, Beverly and Dave Snyder; and special friends of over 50 years, “The Gang”: Jim and Sharon Heneveld, Mark and Joann Joldersma, Don and Ruth Klaasen, Jack and Linda Van Lente.   She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Zwiep; sister, Mari Jo Meyer; brother, Thys Zwiep; and infant grandson, Matthew Dykema.  Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 14, 2020, at Bethany United Reformed Church, 5401 Byron Center Ave SW, Wyoming, with Rev. Casey Freswick and Rev. Eric VanderMolen officiating.  Relatives and friends may meet the family Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4145 Chicago Dr. SW, Grandville, MI.  Please be advised that masks are required, and social distance measures will be in place.
