Ellen Vining

Ellen Carol (Koorndyk) Vining, age 88, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, November 4, 2021. Ellen was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed golfing, watching her favorite Michigan sports teams, and spending time with family and friends. Ellen was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 17 years, Charles M. Vining; her dear brothers, Kenneth Koorndyk and Robert Koorndyk; her parents, Albert and Christine (Haan) Koorndyk; precious baby granddaughter, Rebecca Johnson; and many more relatives and dear friends. Ellen is survived by her son, Douglas Plummer (Susan); daughters, Cathy Johnson, Pamela Laskovy (Michael), Julie Paynter (David); stepdaughters (who she loved as her own), Sally LeBlanc (Pat), Mary Ann Vining. The lights of her life were her twelve grandchildren, Cally, MaryEllen, Lindsey, Stephen, Alyssa, Andrew, Matt, Josh, Amy, Molly, Michelle, and Emily. She is also survived by sister-in-law, Babe Koorndyk; dear nieces, Kitty, Rosemary, Chrissie, and Elcy; nephews, Ken Jr., and Louis; and many great-grandchildren. A memorial gathering will be held Saturday, November 13, 2021 from 2-4 pm at Bayberry Farms Village Community Room, 2520 56th St. SW, Wyoming. Burial at Floral View Memorial Gardens. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
