Elinor Bonthuis

Elinor Bonthuis, age 89, of Grand Rapids, formerly of Hudsonville, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, November 25, 2022. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Gertrude Van Deelen; sister, Marilyn Van Deelen; daughter-in-law, Kathy Bonthuis; and brother-in-law, Ken Bonthuis. Elinor will be lovingly remembered by her husband, James; children, Tom (Jeanette) Bonthuis, Deb (Mike) Burke, Sue (Randy) Barnes, Pat (Dan) Kremers; grandchildren, Rachael (Scott) Steenwyk, Emily (Jim) Hapner, Brendan (Courtney) Bonthuis, Sarah Bonthuis, Carly (Josh) Garvelink, Cami (Adam) Callow, Chris Barnes, Isaac Kremers, Josh Kremers, Eliza Kremers; ten great-grandchildren; brother, Richard (Janice) Van Deelen; sisters-in-law, Marge (Jim) Bergsma, Margaret Bonthuis; many nieces and nephews; and close friend of the family, Margaret Wallace. The family is grateful for Elinor’s wonderful caregivers and hospice team for their compassion and kindness. A memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Friday, January 27, 2023, at LaGrave Avenue Christian Reformed Church, 107 LaGrave Avenue SE, Grand Rapids. Visitation will be at 1 pm, followed by the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a children’s charity of your choice.
