Elaine Marsman

Elaine Ann (Bloem) Marsman, age 92, of Jenison, formerly of Grandville, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, May 14, 2026. Born in Grand Rapids to the late Henry and Jennie Bloem, she graduated from Grand Rapids Christian High School before earning her LPN nursing degree. A woman of deep faith, she was a faithful prayer warrior and actively involved in her church, serving in many capacities throughout the years. She was social by nature and truly enjoyed spending time with others. Above all, she loved her Lord and Savior and deeply cherished her family. She also enjoyed traveling, spending summers at the family cottage on Lake Mitchell in Cadillac, and wintering in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. 

She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Herb Marsman; her siblings, Hank Bloem, Carol Cooper, George Bloem, and Shirley Egler. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Doug and Ann Marsman, Dan and Cindy Marsman, Steve and Faith Marsman, Kevin and Teri Marsman; grandchildren, Scott and Laura Marsman, Jeremy and Marilee Marsman, Andrew and Chrissy Marsman, Christopher and Kathryn Marsman, Natalie and Clay Eshman, Jordan and Erin Marsman, Jennifer and Thom Zietkiewicz, Kyle Marsman; 18 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Jeanne Bloem, Maynard Marsman, Diane Westra; many loving nieces, nephews and dear friends. 

The family would like to express their sincere thanks and appreciation to the staff and caregivers of Waterford Place and Emmanuel Hospice for the love and compassionate care given to Elaine. 

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at South Grandville Church, 4130 Wilson Avenue SW, with Rev. Dr. Daniel Mouw officiating. The burial will take place at Grandville Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, May 26, from 5-8 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville), 4145 Chicago Drive SW and on Wednesday from 10-10:45 a.m. at the church prior to the service. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Sunset Legacy Foundation or South Grandville Church World Mission Fund
