Eileen found joy in the simple things in life such as admiring her flower gardens and enjoying the wildlife, especially the birds. She loved spending time on Lincoln Lake where so many memories were made and a vanilla ice cream cone from Charley’s down the road was always a delicious treat to end the day. Whether it was baking chocolate chip cookies or a knitting project, Eileen was always creating something with her hands, and they were always made with love. Her yearly wedding anniversaries in Mackinaw City were something she looked forward to, sitting together watching the boats drift through the harbor. She would often share interesting stories from earlier days with her family and children. More than anything she loved her family. Every picture that was sent to her was treasured and displayed proudly so she could see the people she loved every day even if they were many miles away.
Eileen fulfilled many roles over her lifetime such as a cashier at Meijer, Rilee’s
Hardware, Women’s City Club, Fuller Avenue Pharmacy, Immanuel Lutheran School, housekeeping at Butterworth Hospital, and a Pain Clinic Registration Clerk for Dr. Gostine and Dr. Davis. Her greatest roles however were that of wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She will be dearly missed by everyone she left behind, especially her husband Kenneth of 69 years.
A funeral service will be held 11 am on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 1601 Post Drive NE, Belmont. Relatives and friends may meet the family from 10-11am prior to the start of the service. Those who wish may make a memorial contribution to Community Harmony Hospice.
