Edwin Brower

December 13, 2024

Edwin Lee Brower, age 88, of Jenison, went to be with his Lord and Savior while surrounded by his family on Friday, December 13, 2024. Heaven gained such an angel, safely in the loving arms of Jesus and rejoicing to be home at last. The families’ hearts are heavy, but they will be forever grateful for his beautiful soul who loved them all so well. Ed fought a courageous battle with cancer, through which he was still able to touch so many people's lives. He was an excellent example of what it means to be a follower of Christ and was a witness to others even throughout his illness. Ed loved to fish and golf, but more than anything he loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren and attend all of their events and concerts. His faithful attendance at all these events throughout his life indicated just how devoted he was to his family. During his eight-month journey with cancer, he was compassionately cared for by his wife and children. His family would like to thank all of the caregivers at Corewell Hospice for their devotion and tender loving care that they gave Ed these past few months.

He is preceded in death by his siblings, Herm and Donna Brower, Marge and Peter Mulder, siblings-in-law, Alfred and Ruby Vander Molen, Ruth Droog, Bernie Wiersma, Larry Scholten; grandchildren, Rachel Geenen, Bethany Brower; and great-granddaughter, Willow Geenen.

He will be lovingly remembered by his precious wife of 69 years, Joan; dearly loved children, Marcia and Rick Geenen, Dawn and Steve Nylaan, Randy and Laurie Brower, Rhonda and Dale Kerkstra, Tami and Jack Brown; 16 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; siblings-in-law, Tret and Roger Hulst, Sylvia Wiersma, John and Karen Vander Molen, Mildred Scholten, Lois Vander Molen, Pat and Herb Wouthuis; his dear friend and golf partner, Tom Ledger; and many dear nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Thursday, December 19, 2024, at South Grandville Church, 4130 Wilson Ave. SW, Grandville, 49418 with Pastor Rod Galindo and Pastor Dan Mouw officiating. A private burial will take place at Grandville Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the family Wednesday, December 18, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW.
