Edwin Adolpho Perkins

Edwin Adolpho Perkins, age 54, of Wyoming, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, February 11, 2022. He was born October 29, 1967 to Edward and Mildred Perkins in Berrien Center, Michigan. He attended St. Mark Baptist Church in Benton Harbor, Michigan, under the leadership of the late Rev. Coleman Gray. This was the beginning of his relationship with God, and he confessed Christ at an early age and began to perfect his craft playing the drums. He attended Benton Harbor High School and later moved to Grand Rapids where he graduated from Job Corp, obtaining a license in welding. He continued to live in Grand Rapids where he maintained employment, with the most recent being at Hearthside Food Solutions in Kentwood, Michigan before he became ill in 2020. Edwin is currently a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Grand Rapids and a member of a quartet group in Grand Rapids called The Gospel Believers. His hobbies included cooking, grilling and enjoying the NFL season cheering his New England Patriots on to victory. Edwin loved spending time with his family and he will be greatly missed. Edwin will be lovingly remembered by his childhood sweetheart and wife of 6 years, Roxanne; children: Detricia Cunningham of Grand Rapids, Dominique Perkins of Grand Rapids, Diane Bridgeman of Benton Harbor, Deon Smith of Detroit, Romeo Asuncion of Grand Rapids, step-daughter and caregiver, Arika Simmons of Dallas, Texas and 13 grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings: Marcus Perkins of Cleveland, Ohio, Morrie Perkins of Atlanta, Georgia, Edwonna Love of Benton Harbor, Michigan, Chiquita Smith (Tiras) of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Edward Love of South Bend, Indiana, Tosha Love of Clarksvile, Indiana and Jermaine Love of South Bend, Indiana; one God-brother, Anthony Dawkins; a special aunt, Josephine (Peaches) Wooden, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.He was preceded in death by his mom, Mildred Marshall in 1984, sister, Roshondia Perkins, and father, Edward Lee Perkins in 2019. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, February 18, 2022 at New Hope Baptist Church of Grand Rapids, 130 Delaware St. SW, Grand Rapids, 49507 with Rev. Dallas Lenear officiating. Burial will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family prior to the service from 10-11 AM. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to New Hope Baptist Church.
