Welde. Edward William WELDE– Edward Welde, aged 80, of Grand Rapids, MI, went to be with his Lord on Sunday, January 11, 2015. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean; brother, Ernest Welde; brothers-in-law, George Gritter and Herk Waanders. He was very proud of his daughters who survive him, Gail and Steve Brinks, Rebecca and Mark Mattison; grandson, Gabriel; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Gladys Gritter, Bill (Kathy) Gritter; sisters-in-law, Carole (Geoff) Gaiser, Marilyn Waanders; many nieces and nephews. Ed was born in Philadelphia, PA. At a young age he began to sing on radio and television. He sang in many choirs. He graduated from Ferris State College with a degree in Ophthalmology and Business. He proudly served his country in the US Navy from 1954 – 1956. He retired from Steelcase. Funeral services for Ed will be held Thursday at 11:00 am at Christ Church (Grand Rapids), 2500 Breton Rd SE with Pastor Walter Lorenz officiating. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family at the Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Chapel (Kentwood), 4646 Kalamazoo SE, on Wednesday from 5-7:30 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to Holland Home or Faith Hospice.
