Edna “Penny” Barendsen

Edna “Penny” Barendsen, age 90, of Grandville, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 11, 2026. Penny was an active member of Fairway Christian Reformed Church. She had a deep love for quilting, generously sharing her time and talents with others through her creations. Above all, she loved her Lord and cherished her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, John and Lorraine Barendsen, Anthony and Jamie Barendsen; five grandchildren, Cliff (CJ), Isaac, Brooke, Taylor, Payton; sister, Marjorie and Sidney Slachter; sister-in-law, Pat Bierema; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Friday, April 17, 2026, at  Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW with Rev. Ed Tamminga officiating. Burial will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Relatives and friends may visit with the family Thursday from 6-8 pm at the funeral home and on Friday from 1-1:45 pm prior to the service. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Bible Broadcasting Network.
