Duwayne Dykehouse

Duwayne Edwin Dykehouse, age 92, of Grandville, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, January 23, 2023. Duwayne was a kind and loving dad, grandpa, and great-grandpa who dearly loved his family. He was a strong man of faith and led his life by example. Duwayne was blessed with a strong work ethic and owned and operated his greenhouses for many years until he retired. Many will remember his beautiful flowers and delicious tomatoes. Following retirement, he and his wife, Tena, enjoyed traveling the country and spending winters in Florida. During his time there, he enjoyed helping others, fishing, and visiting with family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Mettena “Tena” Dykehouse; son, Dean Dykehouse; son-in-law, Matthew Holwerda; and infant grandson, baby Vruggink. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Diane Holwerda, Duwayne Dykehouse Jr. and Nancy Gassman, Dawn Vruggink, Darrell and Robin Dykehouse, Denise and Jerry DeJong, Debra and Bob Langeweg; daughter-in-law, Lorraine (Jim) Dykehouse-Bach; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Don VanHoven, Pat Dykhouse, Ann Dykhouse, Pat Devrou, and Ruth Hoekzema; several loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 27, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Fellowship Church, 6610 36th Ave., Hudsonville, with Rev. Earl Slotman officiating. A recorded version of the service will be available to view on the MKD website Friday evening. Burial will be at Blendon Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Thursday, January 26, from 6-8 p.m. at church and Friday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the church.
