Douglas Rosema

Douglas Todd Rosema, age 56, of Grandville, passed away peacefully while surrounded by family and the love of Christ, on Thursday, February 14, 2019.  He will be lovingly remembered by his daughters, Lara and Matt Brower, Stephanie and Caleb Rutkowski; wife of 32 years, Shelly Rosema; grandchildren, Eloise, Adaline, and baby girl Brower; parents, Roger and Frances Rosema; sister, Gwen and Scott Bolthouse; and many nieces and nephews.  Doug’s passion for music and his contribution to the choral and instrumental world of West Michigan will live on through those he touched through teaching.  Doug spent 31 years directing band and choir for Denver Christian, Jenison Christian and South Christian Schools.  He also directed the Metropolitan Choir of Praise for many years.  Doug’s family would like to invite past students, choral members and friends to join his family for a memorial service to celebrate his life, musical achievements, and to glorify the loving and graceful God that is our only source of peace and hope in the face of death.  The memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, February 18, 2019, at Hillside Community Church, 1440 68th St. SE, Grand Rapids, with Pastor Ron Kool officiating. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Grand Rapids Youth Symphony and Classical Orchestra.  The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff of Faith Hospice at Trillium Woods for their compassionate care for Doug.
