Douglas Kunst, age 80, of Grand Rapids, MI, passed away peacefully on July 1st, 2025.  He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 53 years, Isabelle, with whom he shared a lifetime of love, laughter, and devotion.  He is survived by his daughters, Marion (Scott) Huff and Laura (Frank) Peets; his cherished grandchildren: Samantha (Scott) Rehberg, Frank Peets, Michael (Melissa) Huff, and Melissa (Kyle) VanDrunen; and 18 adored great-grandchildren, who brought him immense joy and pride.  Doug retired from the U.S. Postal Service after a long and dedicated career, where he was known for his strong work ethic and friendly demeanor. In retirement, he fully embraced the things he loved most—spending time with his family, taking his grandchildren out on his boat, and camping under the stars. He also enjoyed the beauty Michigan has to offer, spending many happy hours hunting, fishing, and appreciating the great outdoors.  A diehard Detroit Lions and Tigers fan, he never gave up hope, cheering faithfully season after season. His enthusiasm for the game was matched only by his dedication to his family and the countless memories made around campfires and ball games.  He will be remembered for his warm heart, his steady presence, and the deep love he had for those closest to him. He leaves behind a legacy of laughter, stories, and moments that will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.  Funeral Service will be held 12 p.m. on Wednesday, July 9, 2025 at  Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4031 Clyde Park Ave SW, Wyoming, with Rev. Mark Chapin officiating.  Burial will be held at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.  Relatives and friends may meet the family Wednesday one hour prior to service.
