
Rolland “Rol” Mast, age 81, of Hudsonville, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, October 26, 2025.
He was a kind, compassionate, and talented man who was blessed with a strong work ethic. He served as the secretary and president of RJ Mast Builders, real estate broker and developer. He took immense pride in building both homes and lasting relationships. He was intentional in how he cared for his family and friends, always investing time and attention into the people who mattered most. Rol’s faith walk played a significant role in his life, and he was an active member of his church, where he shared his gifts in service to others.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Jeannette Mast; siblings, Robert and Harriett Mast, James Mast, Al Mast; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Joanne Buist, Shirley Kruys, Donna and Norman Mast, Jim and Diane Crawford, and Robert Boomers. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 60 years, Mary Lou (Boomers); his children, Kathleen and Todd Stuive and their family, Josh and Emma Stuive (Lenni), Cameron and Kristin Stuive (Carter, Cayden, Case, Kinsley), Megan and Ryan Ricketson (Jaxson, Shealyn), Ashley and Nathaniel Palace (Stetson); Karla and Paul Steensma and their children, Stephanie and Joshua Veldman (Braxton, Adelynn), Thomas and Jourdan Steensma (Isabelle); Kristine and Matthew Miller, Jordan and Lauren Kaptein (Paige, Barrett, Bretyn), Nicole and Robby Koster, Alexis and Samuel Lubbers (Margo Lou), Haley Kaptein; Ryan and Kristin Mast and their family, Natalie, Graham, and Lincoln. Rol is also survived by his siblings, Gordon and Phyllis Mast, Betty and Robert Zeinstra; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Marlene Mast, Harold Buist, Jerry Kruys; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at Cornerstone United Reformed Church, 6442 36th Ave., Hudsonville. Burial will take place at West Drenthe Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the family Wednesday from 5-8 pm at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville), 4145 Chicago Dr., and also on Thursday from 10-10:45 am prior to the service at church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Right to Life of Holland, Cornerstone URC Building Fund, Word and Deed Ministries, or Faith Hospice.
