Dorothy Eskew

Dorothy Mae Eskew, age 83, of Grandville passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, November 20, 2018. She was born on May 3, 1935, in Negaunee, Michigan. After graduating from St. Paul’s High School, Dorothy joined the Marine Corp where she met and married DeWayne Eskew. She worked at Kelvinator for 30 years, drove heavy equipment (excavating) for a short time, worked at Muller Furniture as a maintenance mechanic and also worked as a custodian at GVSU where she retired as a boiler engineer. She was the only female boiler engineer in Kent County at the time. Dorothy was preceded in death by her son, Anthony and many of her beloved pets. She is survived by her granddaughter, Crystal Eskew; her friends; and her dog. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, November 26, 2018, at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville), 4145 Chicago Drive SW, with Deacon Jeff Burns presiding. Interment Grandville Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Monday from 1-2 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
