Dorothy “Dorry” Rodriguez

Dorothy “Dorry” Anne Rodriguez, age 59, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 21, 2019, with her family by her side, after an abbreviated battle with Multiple Myeloma.  Dorry was born in Petoskey, Michigan, to Norma Myers (Clark) and Harold Kalbfleisch and grew up in the Little Traverse Bay area. Throughout her life, she always carried the reputation of being a hard worker, especially as a longtime, dedicated employee at Bosch.  She enjoyed small getaways with her family, cooking for absolutely anyone, and time spent enjoying the outdoors in her Jeep. Above all else, she treasured her role as “Oma” in every possible way. She is survived by her beloved husband of 20 years, Timothy Rodriguez of Hudsonville; three children, Feather (Joel) Ackerman of Wyoming, Bryce (Andrea) Kiogima of Byron Center, and Jesse Rodriguez, a senior at Hudsonville High School; grandchildren, Cullen, Monroe, Taj, and Kieren who were her pride and joy.  Dorry is also survived by four sisters, Carolyn Kalbfleisch, Mary (Bruce) White, Kathy (Terry) Walsh, and Amy Viersen; and three brothers, Charles (Carol) Kalbfleisch, Kevin Kalbfleisch, and Gary (Lynn) Kalbfleisch. She also was blessed with many nieces, nephews, friends, and loving family members including Theresa Lewis, her self-proclaimed “adopted daughter”. A service celebrating Dorry’s life will be held on Friday, March 1, 2019, at 3:00 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4145 Chicago Dr SW, Grandville. Relatives and friends may meet the family on Friday from 1-3 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.  Those wishing to make a donation in Dorry’s memory are asked to contribute to a savings account established through Lake Michigan Credit Union to support future endeavors of Dorry’s youngest son, Jesse Rodriguez. Donations can be made at any local branch.
