Dorothy Arloa Viening

Dorothy Arloa Viening, age 85, of Byron Center, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, July 5, 2019.  She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 62 years, Kenneth; children: Steven Viening, Kim and Dan Kuiper, Christopher and Jackie Viening; grandchildren: Rachel Kuiper, Jeremy (Lyndi) Kuiper, Kayla Kuiper, Meagan (Rashad) Luster, Christy Viening; step-grandchildren: Andrew Funckes, Nathan Funckes, Anna Funckes, Nicole Funckes; great grandchildren: Lena Mae Kuiper; adoptive daughter, Mary Rice; brothers-in-law: Alvin Viening, George (Elaine) Viening, Terry (Judy) Viening, Henry (Norma) Viening, Bud Nardin; many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her sisters and brother: Shirley Viening, Ellen Nardin, Walter Piebenga. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and loved painting, embroidery and drawing. Her faith and church were very important to her, and she taught Sunday School for 18 years and sang in the church choir for 60 years at New Life Reformed Church. Funeral services will be held 12:00 noon Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4646 Kalamazoo Ave. SE, Kentwood, with Rev. Jack Klunder officiating. Interment Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery.  Relatives and friends may meet the family Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. to noon at the funeral home.
