Doris VerMerris

Doris J. (Dykhuizen) VerMerris, age 82, of Jenison, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, February 13, 2022. Doris was a kind, loving, wonderful mother and grandmother who always made each and every person she was with feel welcomed and cared for. Doris was an avid gardener who loved spending time outdoors in her beautiful yard and having large family get-togethers. She was the best hostess and she lovingly prepared for each occasion. Doris was preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, Russ, in December of 2021, and her parents, Dora and William Dykhuizen. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Steve and Amy VerMerris, Greg and Janice VerMerris, Gwen and Thom Noor, Kevin and Lori VerMerris; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brothers, Alvin and Jackie Dykhuizen, Harold and Jo Dykhuizen; sister-in-law, Carol Hemmes; extended family and friends. Funeral services will be held at noon on Thursday, February 17, 2022 at Seventh Reformed Church, 950 Leonard St. NW, Grand Rapids with Rev. Paul van Engelenhoven officiating. The service will be viewable via livestream at https://tinyurl.com/2p8n88nf. Burial will take place at Georgetown Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Thursday from 10-11:45 am prior to the service at church. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Seventh Reformed Church.
