Doris Smeckert

Doris Idel Smeckert, age 108, was called home to be with Jesus on Friday, March 21, 2025. Doris was born in Caro, Michigan, to the late Almon and Gladys Pierce. Doris was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother who was blessed with a kind and loving spirit. Over the years, she worked as a bookkeeper in various capacities. Doris was a gifted and creative writer and wrote many beautiful poems that are treasured still today. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Leland in 2009; her great-grandson, Nicholas Noble; and her siblings, Almona (Turner) Bradley, Charles Pierce, and Jenny Pierce. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Diane Noble-Hepfer, Terry and Teresa Smeckert, Jenell and Keith Praay; grandchildren, Matt Noble, Dan and Vicky Noble, Andrew and Holly Smeckert, Aaron and Brooke Smeckert; many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and several loving nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 9, at 2 p.m. at Snover Heritage Church, 3329 Snover Rd., Snover, Michigan. The burial will take place at Moore Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Friday from 12-2 p.m. prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
