Doris Metz

Doris Pearl Metz, age 70, of Grand Rapids, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Saturday, February 24, 2018. Doris was born in Jackson, MI to the late Earl and Blanche Garner. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Tom; 2 sons, Greg (Jennifer), Chad (Kara); six grandchildren, Luke, Zachery, Hannah, Enzo, Estelle, Sabine; twin sister, Deloris (Ron) Baxter; and sister, Joyce (Scott) Debruler; brother-in-law, Steve (MariBeth) Metz; sister-in-law, Julie (Don) VanderMeulen.  Doris was preceded in death by her siblings, Paul and Roger Garner. Doris was loving, patient, and a servant to anyone she met.  She would do anything for anyone who asked and was a wonderful grandmother to more than just her own grandchildren.  A former member of Bethel Reformed Church and current member of First Reformed Church in Grandville where she loved to help out in the kitchen.  She was a stay at home mom but worked part-time at Russ’ Restaurant on Plainfield, where she retired after 40 years.   She also loved spending time at Silver Lake, South Haven, and Nettles Island, FL. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 2 p.m. at the First Reformed Church of Grandville, 3060 Wilson Ave, with Pastor Dave Brower officiating.  Inurnment will be held at Fairplains Cemetery.  Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday from 5-8 p.m. at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW.  Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Jesus Film Project: www.jesusfilm.org.
