Fusae "Si" Seino, age 92, of Jenison, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 17, 2026. Fusae was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend whose kindness and gentle spirit touched everyone she met. She was incredibly social and had a remarkable gift for making those around her feel seen, welcomed, and cared for. Her beautiful smile, quiet grace, and joyful laugh brightened every room, and those fortunate enough to know her will forever remember the warmth and kindness she brought into their lives.

Family was the center of Fusae's world. She cherished every moment spent with her loved ones, but her greatest delight was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She adored spoiling them, showering them with love, affection, and countless special memories they will treasure forever. Whether she was playing games, sharing stories, or simply enjoying their company, she found her greatest happiness surrounded by family.

Born and raised in Japan, Fusae experienced tremendous hardship during her early years. Yet those experiences shaped the quiet strength, resilience, and gratitude that defined the rest of her life. She met the love of her life, Robert, while he was stationed in Japan following the Korean War. With courage and optimism, Fusae moved to the United States with Robert and their infant daughter, Patricia, in 1956 to begin building a new life together. Their family continued to grow with the arrival of two sons, Michael and Kenneth. Though many years passed before she was able to return to Japan to visit her family, Japan always remained close to her heart. She found comfort in Japanese music and films that reminded her of home.

Fusae embraced life's simple joys. She loved golfing, knitting, shopping, traveling, and playing cards with family and friends. She especially enjoyed visiting with the many friends she made through her work at Steelcase, and the Steelcase Employees Credit Union (now Community West Credit Union) where Robert worked for several years. Wherever she went, she formed lasting friendships through her warmth and kindness, including her work volunteering with the Grand Rapids Symphony and as a benefactor of the Richard and Helen DeVos Japanese Garden and Grand Rapids Public Museum. Through every challenge, Fusae remained resilient, gracious, and maintained a sense of humor. She built a beautiful life rooted in love, family, and friendship, and her gentle spirit left a lasting mark on everyone who knew her. Her beautiful smile, unwavering kindness, and selfless love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.

Fusae was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert; son-in-law, Mark Gordon; and grandsons, Michael Gordon and James Gordon. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Patricia Gordon, Michael and Jayne Seino, and Kenneth Seino and Rosemarie Hoffman; her grandchildren, Amanda and Aaron Thomas, Katie and Shawn Martin, Robyn and Jason Schopp, Lauren Seino, Sarah Seino, Michelle and Andrew Skowronek, Amy and Scott Hoek, and Carey Gordon; her many great-grandchildren; her sisters, Shizue Suzuki, Kikuyo Suzuki, and Katsuko Onuki; her brother, Yoshikazu Kiyota; and many cherished nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
