Donald L. Huffman

Donald L. Huffman, age 91, of Wyoming, passed away at home on Saturday, November 9, 2019, after a hard battle with COPD.  Don worked at Walter Hagen Golf which became Wilson Sporting Goods for 40 years.  After retiring, he opened his own business called “The Golf Factory” in Comstock Park.  There wasn’t anything that Don didn’t know about building a golf club.  He loved the game his whole life.  Don loved to tell wonderful stories of his youth, especially his four years playing football at Union High School.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Willis and Lena Huffman; brothers, Jack Huffman, Jerry Huffman; sister, June Barnic; daughters, Cheryl Cabesaz, Elizabeth Huffman; and grandson, Matt Lindey.  Don leaves to mourn his passing his wife of 46 years, Patricia Huffman; children, Mark (Judy) Huffman, Tim (Lynne) Huffman, Sally (James) Chapman, Barb (Gene) Ward, Bonny (Alen) Melanowski, Julie Lindley and her fiancé, Steve Fillips; 17 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; brother, George (Marge) Huffman; and sister, Virginia Burri.  A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2019, at 1:00 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW with Pastor Charles Walker officiating.  Relatives and friends may meet the family on Saturday, November 23, from noon-12:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.  The family wishes to thank Spectrum Health Hospice, especially nurse Wade Harper, for the wonderful care given to Don.  Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Humane Society of West Michigan.
