Donald Eugene Bates

Donald Eugene Bates, age 87, of Sparta, went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday, July 4, 2023. He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna; daughters, Debra Conner (Bates), Jennifer Bates; parents, Leon and Elsie Bates; brother, Roger Bates; sister Janice Crissey (Bates). He will be lovingly remembered by his son, Jeff and Michele Bates; grandchildren, Alivia and Tyler Buxton, Kurtis Conner, Jacob and Tori Conner, Jessica Bates, Michael Johnson, Kaitlyn Johnson; 5 great grandchildren; sister Pat Parameter; several nieces and nephews. Donald proudly served his country in the US Army. He worked for Algoma and Sparta townships for many years. Donald loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. Relatives and friends may meet the family Monday, July 17, 2023 from 5pm - 8pm at the MKD Stegenga Funeral Chapel 1601 Post Drive NE, Belmont, MI. A graveside service with Military Honors will be held on Tuesday July 18, 2023, 11am, at Algoma Township Cemetery.
