Donald Alvin Swanson, age 87, of Wyoming, went to his Lord peacefully on Wednesday, February 7, 2018. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Bernice; daughter-in-law, Sheila Swanson; son-in-law, Zoltan Lorinczy. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Nancy Ringelherd; his twelve children, Herb and Mary Swanson, Mike and Sandy Swanson, Don and Linda Swanson, Chris Swanson, Mary and Gary Karr, Bernice and Dan Roelofs, Tom Swanson, Lorna Lorinczy, John and Ann Swanson, Jim and Deb Swanson, Richard Swanson, Sharon Walsh; step-daughter, Julie and Ron Schultheiss; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends. He was a faithful servant and active member at St. John Vianney Church. He retired after a career as a machine repairman at General Motors-Diesel. Don loved to dance and met both his wives while dancing. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday 11 a.m. at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 4101 Clyde Park Ave. SW, Wyoming. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Wyoming) 4031 Clyde Park SW, with a rosary held at 7:30 p.m. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Right to Life of Michigan Education Fund or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Don will be remembered as making a positive difference in many people’s lives.
