
Dolores Marie Weichhand, age 93, of Grand Rapids, was called to her heavenly home on Saturday, September 2, 2023. Dolores was a kind, loving, caring wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was diligent about making sure that each child, grandchild and great grandchild received a handwritten birthday card. She is described as being the glue that holds the family together. She was the matriarch and made each grandchild and great grandchild feel that they were the favorite. She made sure they all had Christmas stockings and Easter baskets. She knitted booties for each new baby. Dolores attended as many of her grandchildren’s sporting events as she could. She was a Cub Scout and Girl Scout leader. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry; son, David; daughters, Pamela and Theresa; and granddaughter, Becky. She will be lovingly remembered by her children: Kenneth and Marilyn Weichhand, Kurt and Beth Ann Weichhand, Gregory and Kathy Weichhand, Lisa and Mike Mancini; daughter-in-law, Beth Weichhand; 13 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends at Villa Maria. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am on Thursday, September 7, 2023 at St. John Vianney Church, 4101 Clyde Park SW, Wyoming, with Rev. John Vallier presiding. Burial at North Shore Memory Gardens. Relatives and friends may meet the family from 9:30 to 11:00 am on Thursday prior to the Mass. Dolores was a generous woman who donated to numerous charitable organizations and even established the Weichhand Foundation in Berrien County. Her time, talent and treasure went to support numerous Catholic churches and schools.
