DeWayne Elvern Rubedor

​DeWayne Elvern Rubedor was born October 15, 1934 to Floyd and Mary Rubedor at St. James Minnesota. DeWayne attended school in St. James, until joining the US Marine Corp on January 4th 1953.He was sent to Camp Pendleton CA for 10 weeks of boot camp. He was assigned to the 33rd Marine Division Advanced Infantry. In March 1953 he was sent to Japan. He served in Okinawa, Iwo Jima, and other Korean stations. His remaining time was spent in Japan. He was discharged January 3rd, 1956. In February 1956 he met Maurine Evans and they married on June 2, 1956. They were to have 4 children. Kristine (Jim), Kathleen (Dean), Mark (Lisa), David (Byron); 3 grandchildren, Daniel, Amber (Greg), and Katie (Adam). They were married 66 years. DeWayne and his family moved to Hutchinson, MN 1960, where he worked line construction and was a line foreman for 12 years. They then moved to St. Paul worked for NSP, transferring to Mankato, MN then to Windom MN, where he was superintendent for the city water and light. He was responsible for taking down the 180 ft smoke stack and building a quick start turbine. He then went to Sauk Center as Supervisor of water and light. After that he moved to New Prague, MN and retired from that position. DeWayne and his wife traveled for 18 years full time in their motorhome. They took off in 1994 planning on just a few years, but they ended traveling full time. They traveled to every state, Canada, and went to Alaska three times. They also traveled to 27 states on their motorcycle. He fished in the Gulf of Mexico every morning when they wintered in Texas. They enjoyed their travels and met many friends along the way. Many are still good friends to this day. DeWayne and Maurine settled down in Duluth, MN after traveling and loved the area. Age caught up with him and moved to St. Paul, MN to be closer to family. After losing his wife and three of his children, he moved to Grand Rapids, MI to be with his remaining daughter and family. DeWayne passed peacefully on Tuesday January 9th, 2024 with his daughter and family at his side. Passing before him were his parents, Floyd and Mary Rubedor; sisters, Marion Howell, LaVonne Gappa; brothers; Llyod Rubedor, Delmar Rubedor; children, Kristine LaFleur; son-in-law, James; sons, Mark Rubedor and David Rubedor. He is survived by daughter, Kathleen Crowell (Dean); grandchildren Daniel Crowell, Amber Becker, (Greg), Katie Rubedor-Green, (Adam).
