Denise Roughley

Denise Roughley, age 60, of Jenison, after 7.5 years of a tenacious battle with cancer, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, March 28, 2023. She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Damico; and sister, Deb Harper. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 39 years, Tim Roughley; daughter, Tori Roughley; two cats, Lily and Calli; grandpup, Sherwood; grandkitty, Zelda; mother, Eileen Damico; siblings, Lisa Terwilliger, Steven Damico, Christina and Scott Kraning; brothers-in-law, Steve Harper, Dennis and Gloria Roughley; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Denise’s greatest wish during this journey was to heal so she could go back to working at the local elementary schools to read to and help teach the children. She was a vessel of genuine and unconditional love and compassion and listened when no one would listen. She selflessly guided and inspired all those around her to grow, discover their true potential, and expand their minds, encouraging continual learning and reforming. “Man’s mind, stretched to a new idea, never goes back to its original dimension.” ~Oliver Wendell Holmes. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Chapel Pointe Church, 3350 Baldwin St., Hudsonville, with Pastor Daryl Bolhuis officiating. The burial will take place at Georgetown Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday, March 31, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW.
