Delmar DeJong

Delmar Walter DeJong, age 85, of Jenison, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, September 24, 2024. Del was born January 27, 1939 to Walter and Johanna DeJong in Evergreen Park, IL. He moved to Hudsonville as a teenager when his father became principal at Unity Christian High School. Del was a charter member of Hillcrest Christian Reformed Church and worked for 47 years at Ferguson Supply Co. and part time at Unity Christian High School. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother and sister-in-law, Carl and Gloria DeJong; sister-in-law, Marcia Monsma; and parents-in-law, John and Ruth Monsma. Del will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 64 years, Carol (Monsma); children, Deb and Cal Vis, Doug and Amy DeJong; grandchildren, Trevor and Amanda DeJong, Jessica DeJong, Shelby and Bradley Cooper, Eric Vis, Julia Vis; great-grandson, Thomas DeJong; sister, Sharlene and Peter Jouwstra; brother, Alan and Faith DeJong; brothers-in-law, Richard and Opal Monsma, Jack and Leda Monsma; sister-in-law, Mary Monsma; several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Monday, October 7, 2024 at Hillcrest Christian Reformed Church, 3617 Hillcrest Rd., Hudsonville with Rev. Curt Walters officiating. Relatives and friends may visit with the family from 10 to 10:45 am at the church prior to the service. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Unity Christian High School or Hudsonville Christian School.
