Dawn Marie Nagy

April 14, 2026

Dawn Marie Nagy, 69, of Zeeland, MI, passed away on Tuesday, April 14, 2026.  Her children by her side as she left this earth and gained her wings.

Dawn married her husband, Steve Nagy, on November 9, 2002. On March 30, 2018, Dawn received a devastating diagnosis of Early Onset Alzheimer’s.  Just two weeks later Steve was diagnosed with Stage IV Cancer.  Sadly, Steve died on November 18, 2018, just nine days after their 16-year wedding anniversary. He was just 66. They are now reunited in eternal paradise, with their dogs Molly, Bobby McGee, and Joey.

On February 25, 2004, Dawn completed her Inflight Training Certificate and became a flight attendant; a life-long dream. She worked for Continental Express from 2004-2011. A natural “people-person”, she was drawn to others and enjoyed getting to know passengers. She even met a few celebrities. During layovers, she would explore new cities and enjoy the cuisine.   Her husband joined her on many trips, and was a huge opportunity for them both to travel the U.S.

Dawn enjoyed making spaces warm and inviting.  Gardening, painting, journaling, knitting, and taking photos became a passion.  She especially enjoyed the “Butterflies are Blooming” at Frederik Meijer Garden & Sculpture Park, the “Van Gogh Exhibition: The Immersive Experience”, and Art Prize. She loved being outdoors, visiting museums, the zoo, going out for ice cream, manicures and pedicures, watching birds, and going to the Gerald R. Ford International Airport Viewing Park to watch aircraft take off and land.

Loving mother of Sarah (Shawn) Heckelman, Michelle (Jason) Scherley, Steven (Stacy) Kramer, Rachel (Nick) Widman, and Brian (Kelly) Kramer, and her beloved dog, Nicky.

Cherished grandma to Jacob, Ava, Joshua, Rileigh, Emerson, Roman, Easton, and Daisy.

Dawn’s family would like to express their extreme gratitude to the Memory Care team at Medilodge of Zeeland and Emmanuel Hospice for providing such wonderful care. She was always treated with compassion and dignity. The words “Thank you” will never be enough, and we are forever grateful for everyone who participated in her care.

We are comforted knowing our mom is now whole again.  We will talk to her often. We will ask for her guidance, compassion, and patience as we navigate such a profound loss. She remains in our hearts and walks beside us in spirit. She was loved deeply; she will be missed greatly. Until we meet again.

A private life celebration for Dawn will be held by her children and grandchildren.

Your Motherhood Lives ON

A mother sows seeds for a forest she will never see.

Long after she leaves, the blooms will stretch into gardens,

And the trees will strengthen and grow.

The ripples she made will be the whisper of a thought or memory.

She leaves behind her love, her touch, her time.

She leaves behind motherhood in the warmth that shines in others.

On and on, long after she is gone.
