David Wieland

Dave Wieland, age 79, of Grandville, slipped into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, May 6, 2018, with his family at his side. The son of Henry and Laverne (Seamon) Wieland, he was born on January 6, 1939, in Grand Rapids and grew up on the northwest side. He leaves behind his beautiful wife of 16 years, Betty; his daughters, Shelley (Ric) Crooks, Krista (Steve) Yetzke, Angela (Chris) Yetzke; their mother, Sharon Wieland; stepson, Michael (Chary) Veldman; four grandsons, Jake, Ty and Luke Yetzke, Christian Veldman; and close friends, too many to count. Dave graduated from Grand Rapids Junior College with an Associates Degree in Business. He served six years in the U.S. Army under the National Guard. Dave is remembered by his family and friends as a man of strong and devoted faith, leading his family in loving the Lord, giving faithfully and forgiving generously. An avid hunter and fisherman, Dave had a zest for life, adventure and travel, making friends and touching lives wherever he went. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, May 10, 2018, at Ivanrest Christian Reformed Church, 3777 Ivanrest Avenue SW, Grandville, with Rev. Tony Meyer officiating. Interment Washington Park Memorial Gardens. Relatives and friends may meet the family Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. at the church and 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the service on Thursday. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Faith Hospice of Byron Center.
