David Wayne McDonald Jr. went home to the Lord on Thursday, March 17th, 2022. He was 40 years old. David leaves behind his son, Caleb, his parents, David and Patricia McDonald, his sister Melissa (Zach) Kinstner, and his nieces and nephews. Others mourning the loss of David include his extended family near and far, his firefighting brothers and sisters, Jen and her family, and countless friends who loved him.
David was employed by Grand Traverse Fire and Rescue, he was also a paid on-call firefighter with Pleasant Plains Township Fire Department, and served Holland Fire Department for more than 14 years. He had a heart of gold that was made for serving others.
If he wasn’t working or on a fire call, you could find him at a Griffins game cheering on his favorite team, at Tulip City Brewstillery competing in the weekly trivia game, riding his motorcycle with the Nozzlemen, competing in a water ball tournament, or relaxing at the cottage, which he had affectionately named his Happy Place.
Services for David will be held on Wednesday, March 30th, at Christ Memorial Church in Holland. Visitations will be begin at 10am, followed by the service at 11am, and a light lunch to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for contributions to Caleb’s education fund: https://gofund.me/99c7ddb9.
