David John Hager

David John Hager, age 79, of Jenison, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, April 24, 2017. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Dorothy “Dot”; children, Dan and Elizabeth Hager of Hudsonville, Don and Amy Hager of Jenison; 4 grandchildren, Shea, Cade, Chase, and Faith; brother, Larry and Jane Hager; sister, Nancy Deters; sisters-in-law Arlene Obetts, Cheryl and Ed Kinder, Pat Hoolsema; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Jean Hager; brother, Roger Hoolsema; sisters, Mary Westra, Lois Hager; brothers-in-law, Ed Obetts, Lee Deters, Chuck Westra; sister-in-law, Barb Hager. David was a member of Ridgewood Christian Reformed Church for 48 years, where he served as elder and deacon. He worked for Michigan National Bank for 41 years, served in the Michigan National Guard for 6 years, and was a member of Golden Kiwanis for 16 years. He also  attended Churchmen’s luncheon held at Westminster Church for 18 years and volunteered weekly at Feeding America for 15 years and Crossroads Bible Institute for 7 years. Funeral services will be held on Friday 11 am at Ridgewood Christian Reformed Church, 1571 Baldwin, Jenison, with Rev. Len Kuyvenhoven and Rev. Nancy Boote officiating.  Interment Georgetown Township Cemetery.  Relatives and friends may meet the family Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW.  In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorial contributions to Jenison Christian School or Hudsonville Christian School.
