Darrell Kenneth Larson

Darrell Kenneth Larson, age 78, of Grand Rapids, formerly of Chelsea, went to his heavenly home on Thursday, September 22, 2022. Ken’s true passion in life was shaping young people’s minds, starting as a teacher, principal, coach, and assistant superintendent in the secondary level in various schools in Eastern Michigan school districts. He graduated with a Master’s degree in Education and Administration from Eastern Michigan University and even started his Doctorate. He loved U of M sports and he was an avid golfer. Ken greatly enjoyed spending time with his grandkids, coaching and teaching them his passions. He was most of all a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend.

Ken will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 56 years, Brenda; children: Jeffrey and Wendy Larson, Mark and Tammy Larson, Scott and Amy Larson; grandchildren: Zachary, Zoe, West, Ruby; sister and brother: Jeane Larson, Gary and Mary Larson; many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents: Darrell Robert and Arlene Larson; and sister, Randalyn Larson.

According to his wishes, cremation has taken place. A private celebration of Ken’s life will take place at a later date. Burial will be held at Oak Grove Cemetery in Chelsea, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, a student scholarship in Chelsea has been established in his memory. Donations are accepted through the Cash App at $wendywahoo, or through Venmo @wendywahoo.
