Daniel Vermeer

Daniel “Dan” Vermeer, age 79, of Kentwood, was called to his heavenly home on Sunday, January 26, 2025, after a brief journey with cancer. He was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to the late Adolph and Marguerite Vermeer. Dan retired from Sysco after over 40 years of dedicated service. He enjoyed the outdoors and the water, especially when he could be out fishing. Dan was an avid sports fan, always cheering on the Michigan Wolverines and all the professional Detroit sports teams. When some spare time allowed, he found some enjoyment playing the slot machines at the Gun Lake Casino. Above all, his positive spirit and love for his family will be forever cherished. He will be greatly missed by his children, Lynda Schab, Jeff and Sarah Vermeer, Matt and Kristi Vermeer; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; siblings, Judy and Roger Seth, Sandy Ricucci, Carol Matzke, Bob and Nelba Vermeer; and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Thursday from 4-6 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW. The burial will take place at Georgetown Township Cemetery. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Faith Hospice.
