Daniel John Eckert

Daniel John Eckert, age 41, of Grand Rapids, passed away unexpectedly and went to his heavenly home on Friday, December 13, 2024.  He loved cooking and worked as a supervisor at Corewell Health (Leffingwell Campus) in Nutrition Services.  He rescued and loved his dog, Zoe.  He enjoyed attending sporting events, especially family games, U of M or Tigers.  He will be remembered for his great sense of humor usually with a straight face and charming wit.  

He was preceded in death by and now joins his father, Gary; grandparents, David and Marilyn VanEvery, Gene and Ruth Eckert; uncle, Raleigh Griffin.

Dan will be lovingly remembered by his mother, Amy Eckert (William Zaagsma); siblings, Michael Eckert, Kathryn Eckert (Magnus Anyanwu); aunts and uncles: Gale (Carol) Eckert, Jane (Jerry) Mohr, Melissa Griffin, Sarah (Robert) Engster; many cousins and friends, especially Brad “BJ”, Chris, Jeff “Stubby.”

Memorial Service will be held 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 19, 2024, at  Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4646 Kalamazoo Ave. SE, Kentwood, with Rev. Mike Ramsey officiating.   Relatives and friends may meet the family Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home as well as one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Kent County Animal Rescue (https://www.accesskent.com/Departments/AnimalShelter/).  The family wishes to express their gratitude to the Kent County Sheriffs, Cutlerville and Dutton Fire Departments, Kent County Victims Services for their kindness to the family.
