Daniel Dean Willison

Daniel Dean Willison, age 83, of Grand Rapids, went to his eternal home on Wednesday, September 26, 2018.  He was a veteran serving in Army in Germany after the Korean War. Dan was a caring and giving man, willing to help without being asked.  He was always smiling and had a thumbs up for everyone he passed in the halls at the veterans home.  Dan enjoyed ceramics, painting, Bingo, fishing, the Detroit Tigers, and the West Michigan Whitecaps. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosemary (Bierema) Willison; and his twin brother, Don.  He will be lovingly remembered by his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Daryl and Pat Bierema, Nick and Sandi Bierema, Nancy Bierema; and others that he loved, including his nieces and nephews.  Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 1, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel at The Grand Rapids Home for Veterans, 3000 Monroe Ave. NE, Grand Rapids, with Chaplain Bob Dennis officiating.  Interment will be held at Rest Lawn Memorial Park.  Relatives and friends may meet the family Sunday from 2-4 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW and on Monday from noon-1 p.m. prior to the service at The Grand Rapids Home for Veterans. The family wishes to express their thanks to the doctors, nurses, aides, and all of those who took care of Dan at The Grand Rapids Home for Veterans. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Grand Rapids Home for Veterans.
