Cynthia Jean Overley

Cynthia Jean Overley ETC…, born January 20, 1957 passed peacefully surrounded by family, friends, and the angels, Sunday July 26th, 2020. "Cindy" as everyone knew her, loved God and her family above all else and would often be found riding her scooter with her dog CoCo. Cindy loved helping others and regularly volunteered in her community: church, recovery groups, thrift stores, and food pantries. She enjoyed gardening, dancing, shopping, watching movies with her Grandchildren, taking Coco to the dog park, and making people smile. She was full of life, spunk, love, and a whole lot of shenanigans. However, she loved her family and friends for better, or worse. The First Step House, was her home away from home for the past 36 years. Cindy was never shy about her struggles, instead she embraced them and used her story to reach others in need. She is survived by her children: Brady Joe (Grand Rapids, MI) Charity Faith (Grand Rapids, MI) and "adopted" family Heather Shae (Hamilton); Grandchildren, Breana Rae, Caleb Alexander, and Jaiden James. Nieces, Patricia Ann (Grand Rapids, MI), and Martha Ann (Grand Rapids, MI); Great Nieces, Destiny Marie, Tonya LaShell, Maria LaShae, Damontae Tyrel, Damorian Tyree, and Tarvis Terrell. Her Sister, Linda (Steve) Thompkins (Grand Rapids) and her Brother, Martin Overley (Grand Rapids, MI) She was preceded in death by her daughter (in-law), Shelley Rae (Grand Rapids,MI); her sister, Brenda Kay (Grand Rapids, MI); Mother, Melba Lorraine Overley (Tate); her Father, William Eugene Overley (Grand Rapids, MI) and her furbaby, Cadin. Cindy requested that her and Cadin's ashes be scattered in a private gathering. In lieu of flowers/monetary donations, it was Cindy’s wish that all monetary donations be directed to two very important organizations:
