
Crystal Ann Koster, age 94, of Byron Center, MI was welcomed to her heavenly home by her loving Lord and Savior on Saturday April 11, 2026.
She was a loving wife, devoted mother, beloved grandmother, proud great-grandma, and active at church and a dear friend to many. She loved gardening, quilting, and participating in Bible Study. She was known for her homemade cinnamon rolls, macaroni and cheese, and delicious pies. She made many lifelong friendships while working at Family Fare. Crystal was born in Byron Center, MI to Andrew and Angeline Van Solkema on March 17, 1932. She graduated from Byron Center High School in 1950.
Crystal was preceded in death by her loving husband, Bob; second husband, Mel Kruizenga; sons, Ron Koster and Bill Koster; best friend, Alvene Vanden Band; siblings, Gil Van Solkema, Wes Van Solkema, Maxine Alberda, Byrle Van Solkema; brothers-in-law, Nelvin Koster and Ken Koster; and sister-in-law, Clara Reurink. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Yvonne Alles, and Kristi (Curt) Huizinga; sons, Bob Jr. (Lisa) Koster, Kevin (Ingrid) Koster; siblings Ardyce Bandstra and Ruth Vander Horn; sister-in-law Myrna Van Solkema; brothers-in-law Evert Reurink and Don Alberda; dear family friend, Suzann Witkowski, grandchildren: Brent (Camille) Alles, Kent (Yulia) Alles, Mary (Chris) Dexter, BJ Koster, Elizabeth (Steven) Franklin, Stephen (Jenny) Koster, Cassie (Josh) Peereboom, Ryan (Brit) Nousen, Joel (Hannah) Koster, Jared (Alysha) Koster, Sarah Koster, Jon (Britt) Huizinga, David (Jess) Huizinga, Angie (Mike) Vander Ploeg, Jefferson Koster, Isaiah Koster, great-grandchildren: Sasha, Pavel, Beth, Tatum, Harley, Adam, Joey, Isaiah, Karl, Sophia, Addie, Elle, Zander, Grant, Maecyn, Graham, Hadassah, Finn, Lilliann, Ivy, Silas, Ezra, Cassius, Indie, Amira, and Luca, and many loving relatives and church friends in Wisconsin and Florida; and dear friends Jo Savering and Winnie Jenkins.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 am on Saturday April 18, 2026, at Woodward Baptist Church, 2160 76th St. SW, Byron Center, 49315 with Pastor Lance Laker officiating. A luncheon will be held following the service. Burial will take place at Winchester Cemetery at a later date. Relatives and friends may visit with the family prior to the service from 10:00-11:30 am at the church prior to the service. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Woodward Baptist Forward in Faith Building Program or Open Christian Center, both causes dear to Crystal's heart, "I fought the good fight.
