Clarence Slomp

Clarence Slomp, age 77, of Grand Rapids, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 18, 2016 and went home to his Lord and Savior.  Clarence lived courageously with Parkinson ’s disease for many years.  He established Sunray Roofing in 1977.  He will be remembered for his kindness, compassion, sense of humor and as a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.  Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 45 years, Elsa; children and grandchildren, Brandon and Jacki Slomp (Tori, Averi), Devon and Janessa Slomp (Dylan, Jayden, Evelynn, Anden), Ryan and Carol Slomp (Isabella, Aleena, Anika), Hilaree Slomp and fiancé Chris Hudson (Kendell, Connor); brothers and sisters, Harry and Bonnie Slomp, Diane and Melle Pool, Bertha and John VanZeggelaar, Bert and Trudie Slomp; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Mina Slomp, John Senneker, Bonnie and Phil Wessels, Korry and Doug Hoeksema, Louise and Terry Brink, Aileen and Dave Van Houten, Margaret and Paul Champion, Herm Baker, Jenni Baker, many nieces and nephews.  Funeral services will be held on Saturday 12 pm at Cascade Fellowship Christian Reformed Church, 6655 Cascade Rd, Grand Rapids, with Dr. Milton Doornbos officiating.  Interment Grandville Cemetery.  Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW.  Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Van Andel Institute for Parkinson’s Research or Grace Hospice.
