Chelsey Shirley

Chelsey Shirley, age 31, of Caledonia, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, September 19, 2023. Chelsey had a permanent and infectious smile and if you asked anyone who knew her, they would say that she was always a shining light to those around her. She was a hard worker and very intelligent, earning many accolades in school. She graduated from Central Michigan University with a Masters in Human Resources Administration and worked for Hulst-Jepsen Physical Therapy. She loved dogs, reading, and camping at Ludington State Park. More than anything though, Chelsey loved being a wife to Nick and a mom to Ada Jean. She always wanted to be a mom and when Ada was born, she became her whole world. Chelsey was a kind and generous soul who always put others ahead of herself and she will be dearly missed. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Charles and Grace Watson, George and Shirley Janose. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Nick Shirley; daughter, Ada Jean; parents, Mark and Laretha Janose; siblings, Kyle Janose, Paul (Christina) McCarthy; parents-in-law, Mark and Beth Shirley; siblings-in-law, Madison (Brent) Stephens, Jackson Shirley; many aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral services will be held 11 am Wednesday, September 27 at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4646 Kalamazoo Ave. SE, Kentwood. Burial will be held at Idlewild Cemetery in Kent City. Relatives and friends may meet the family Wednesday an hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
