Charles W. Kennedy

Charles W. Kennedy, of Kentwood, passed away on December 15, 2016 at the age of 90. Charles was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 39 years, Inez; his sisters Eletha (VandenBerg) Bersie, Helen Kennedy, and Mary (Kennedy) Markham. He is survived by his daughter Myra “Cindy” (Robert) Johnston, son Charles “Chuck” (Carrie) Kennedy II; nine grandchildren; and twelve great grandchildren. Charles was an officer in the U.S. Army, proudly serving his country for thirty-seven years. Charles retired from the City of Grand Rapids where he had worked as a fire inspector and housing inspector. His family is grateful for the love and support that he received from the compassionate staff at American House Kentwood and Kindred Hospice. Funeral services for Charles will be held on Sunday, December 18 at 1:00 pm at the Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf (Kentwood), 4646 Kalamazoo Ave. SE. The family will receive friends from 12 Noon until the time of the service. Interment at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Kindred Hospice.
